OK, so there are political-type films, which might have you taking up a cause - eg Hotel Rwanda, Fahrenheit 911, In the Name of the Father. There are life-affirming films - eg Eat Pray Love, It's a Wonderful Life, Shawshank Redemption. Then there are travel films, which make you want to book and go there - eg The Beach, Roman Holiday, A Good Year.
Which films have inspired you, and why, and what did you do as a result?!

I'm a big fan of epic films such as Dr Zhivago and Lawrence of Arabia. In terms of personal inspiration I'd have to go for Schindler's List, which inspired me to write the first poetry I'd written in over 20 years. I wrote an account not of the film but of being part of an audience in a cinema who left in silence, something I've never experienced again since.
